EQ III Plug-In 6.9cs3 (Windows and Macintosh)

August 31, 2005

From the EQ III 6.9cs3 Read Me, included with the downloads:

What’s Fixed in EQ III Plug-In Version 6.9cs3 for Windows XP and Mac OS X?

Fixed: EQ III 1-band will not hold its Q setting (Item #67564)

  • EQ III 1-band will not hold its Q setting when used on mono or multi-channel tracks.* This includes Q settings saved within Pro Tools session or within an EQ III plug-in settings file.

*EQ III operates as a mono or multi-mono plug-in only. Stereo and multi-channel tracks are supported through multi-mono operation.

Fixed: Gain flipping an EQ may not work when set to maximum settings (Item #66092)

  • Gain flipping an EQ band using modifier keys may not work when set to maximum/minimum gain settings. Gain settings lower than +/– 18 dB are not affected.

Fixes Included from EQ III Plug-In 6.9cs2:

Fixed: The EQ III Peak/Shelf switches for Low and High bands are causing their knobs to send incorrect automation tokens (Item #66441)

The EQ III Peak/Shelf switches for Low and High bands are causing their knobs to send out "latched" tokens when these switches are automation-enabled and an automation pass is done in Latch mode. The result is that automation-enabling EQ III can cause EQ III controls to move in a sluggish manner as well as write unintended automation data.

Fixes Included from EQ III Plug-In 6.9cs1:

Fixed: EQ III HF and LF Settings Are Not Recalled Correctly (Item #63367)

  • EQ III 4-band and 7-band settings of the HF and LF bands are not being recalled correctly after session open or when opening Plug-In Setting files. Gain settings beyond +/– 12.0 dB or Q settings beyond 2.0 are reset and ignored.

Fixed: EQ III HF and LF Q Settings Change Value when Duplicating (Item #61540)

  • EQ III HF and LF Q settings can change values when set to Notch mode and you duplicate/copy the plug-in to another insert.

Who Should Use EQ III 6.9cs3 for Windows XP and Mac OS X?

  • This update is recommended for all EQ III users.

Important: EQ III 6.9cs3 for Windows XP and Mac OS X is provided as an interim "customer support" (CS) release to address the issues described. While our testing has not shown these changes introduce other problems, this version has not been fully qualified by Digidesign.

Please note that EQ III v6.9 Mac and Windows downloads elsewhere on the Digidesign website do NOT include the fixes in the EQ III 6.9cs3 downloads below. The CS downloads below will replace your previous version of EQ III.

EQ III DigiRack Plug-In — Initial Release Announcement

March, 2005*

Welcome to the EQ III DigiRack plug-in for Pro Tools LE, Pro Tools TDM, and Avid systems on Macintosh and Windows.

*April 2005 Update: The DigiRack EQ III plug-in is automatically installed during installation of Pro Tools TDM and LE 6.9.x, including the Pro Tools 6.9.x web updaters. You only need to download it for earlier versions of Pro Tools TDM, LE, or M-Powered software.

EQ III Features

The EQ III plug-in provides a high-quality 7 Band, 2–4 Band, or 1 Band EQ for adjusting the frequency spectrum of audio material.

Plug-In Format Support

EQ III is available in the following formats:

  • 7 Band: TDM, RTAS, AudioSuite
  • 2–4 Band: TDM and RTAS only
  • 1 Band: TDM, RTAS, AudioSuite

Sample Rate Support

EQ III supports all Pro Tools session sample rates: 192 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 96 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 48 kHz, and 44.1 kHz.

Channel Format Support

EQ III operates as a mono or multi-mono plugin only. Stereo and multichannel tracks are supported through multi-mono operation.

Control Surface Support

EQ III can be operated from the following control surfaces:

  • Digidesign D-Control
  • Digidesign ProControl
  • Digidesign Control|24
  • Digidesign Digi 002
  • Digidesign Command|8
  • Mackie HUI-compatible controllers

Frequency Graph Display

EQ III has a display that shows the response curve for the current EQ settings on a two-dimensional graph of frequency and gain. The frequency graph display also lets you modify frequency, gain and Q settings for individual EQ bands by dragging their corresponding points in the graph.

Efficient DSP Usage on TDM Systems

By choosing from the 7 Band, 2–4 Band, or 1 Band versions of the EQ III plug-in, you can use only the number of EQ bands you need for each track, conserving DSP capacity on TDM systems.

System Requirements

To use EQ III, you need one of the following systems:

  • A Digidesign-qualified Pro Tools TDM or LE system running Pro Tools 6.7 or higher with Pro Tools|HD or LE hardware
  • A Digidesign-qualified Pro Tools M-Powered system running Pro Tools 6.7 or higher with supported M-Audio hardware
  • A Digidesign-qualified Pro Tools system and a third-party software application that supports the Digidesign TDM, RTAS, or AudioSuite plug-in standard.
  • A qualified Avid Xpress, Avid Xpress DV or Avid DNA system.
  • To use the TDM version of EQ III on a Pro Tools|HD-series system running Pro Tools 6.7, you need the updated version of DSP Manager installed with the EQ III plug-in.

Warning: EQ III was only tested and qualified by Digidesign with Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools LE systems with Pro Tools version 6.7 and higher.

We have received reports that installing EQ III on Pro Tools systems on Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or on Windows XP with Pro Tools 6.2.x or earlier not only will not work, but may disable Pro Tools entirely. This then requires removal of all EQ III components and in addition may require reinstallation of Pro Tools. See Removing EQ III below for removal instructions.
