Registering a New Digidesign Product

In order to qualify for registration as a new system, the Digidesign product must have been purchased new from an Authorized Digidesign Dealer. For more information on what registration entitles you to, please see the registration booklet included with all retail Digidesign product packages.

Authorized US Digidesign dealers do not sell Digidesign products on eBay.com or other online auction sites in the US. If you purchase a Digidesign product from an online auction site, you may be purchasing from someone other than an Authorized Digidesign Dealer, and your product may not be registered as a new product. If you do not have a receipt with an authorized dealer's name on it (see list of Authorized Digidesign Dealers), then you did NOT buy from an authorized dealer even though it may have been advertised as such. This product will then be considered as used or previously owned and is not entitled to free Technical Support or free software upgrades. Some companies do have authorized online stores, such as Musician's Friend (the online outlet for Guitar Center stores), but they are not allowed to sell on auction sites such as eBay.

New Online Product Registration

In 2005, Digidesign introduced a new online registration process for new products that include an online registration card. For information on this process, please see the Digidesign Online Registration section of the website.

Click on "Register Your Product" for an example of the yellow online registration card included with new systems manufactured in February 2005 and later.

If you purchased a new Pro Tools core hardware system (HD, 002, OO2 Rack, Mbox2, Mbox), please make sure to register both your core hardware unit and any additional software included such as the HDpack, Ignition Pack, or Factory Bundle at the Digidesign Online Registration section of the website. For support purposes, the actual hardware unit must be registered, not just the additional software.

Products manufactured by Digidesign prior to February 2005 do not include the registration card that will allow you to register online. These older products include a registration booklet with a white registration form that you must mail or fax to Digidesign.

Registration Alert for Digi 002 & 002 Rack Owners

If you purchased a NEW Digidesign system or software package in mid-2005 or later from an authorized Digidesign Dealer, an online registration card is normally included in the box with your purchase. if an online registration card was included, you can register using the online registration system. For an example of how the online registration card should look, please see this link.

If you purchased a Digi 002 or Digi 002 Rack, please make sure to register both your hardware unit and any additional software included such as the Ignition Pack or Factory Bundle at the Digidesign Online Registration section of the website. For support purposes, the actual hardware unit must be registered, not just the additional software.

Beginning in early 2006, some Digi 002 and Digi 002 Rack units were inadvertently shipped without the online registration cards needed to register online. We apologize for this error, which has since been corrected in manufacturing. Digidesign Customer Service will be able to register these customers using these instructions:

If you purchased a NEW Digi 002 or Digi 002 Rack in early 2006 from an authorized Digidesign Dealer, and an online registration card for the hardware was not included in the box, please email the following information to Digidesign Customer Service Administration at this address: csadmin@digidesign.com

Digi 002 or Digi 002 Rack hardware serial number (on the back or bottom of the 002 hardware)
The Pro Tools LE version number that was included in your box
Date of purchase
The name and location of the Digidesign Dealer where you purchased your Digi 002 or Digi 002 Rack
Please include the name, address, and phone number, and any other relevant information as they should be listed for the registered owner of the product

Registration Alert for Mbox 2 Owners

It has come to our attention that some new Mbox 2 owners may have received an online registration card for their Mbox 2 that did not include the barcode sticker containing the MBox 2 hardware serial number. For an example of how the online registration card should look, please see this link.

If your online registration card for your MBox2 does not include this barcode sticker, please look for the sticker with serial number on the box your Mbox 2 was packaged in. Or you can find the Mbox 2 hardware serial number on the back or bottom of the Mbox 2 hardware. The Mbox 2 serial number will begin with the two letter prefix "AP". Please use that Mbox 2 hardware serial number to complete your online registration.

Previous Product Registration — Mail or Fax

If a yellow online registration card was not included with your new product purchase, please fill out the white registration card included with the purchase and either mail it in or fax it to 650.731.6384 marked "Attention: Registration". To fax from outside of the US, use the fax number for your Local Digidesign Office or fax to the US registration fax number: 001-650-731-6384.

If you did not receive a registration card, please fax a copy of your original sales receipt from an Authorized Digidesign Dealer with all serial numbers clearly displayed on the fax. Hardware serial numbers can be found on the back or bottom of the hardware unit for individual hardware products such as audio interfaces and Pro Tools LE hardware systems.

Italian customers: please use online registration if you received an online registration card, or if you have the older white registration card, fill out the registration card and either mail it in or fax it to 800 780570 marked "Attention: Registration".

Customers in Japan must Register with the Digidesign Japan Office or use the online registration process for newer products.

A form is required to access some downloads on the Digidesign websites. Completion of the download form is not related to registration of the software, hardware, or any other product. For help with plug-in update and demo downloads, please see Download Help FAQ #1.

Used Hardware Registration — Transfer of Ownership

To register used Digidesign hardware, you will need to fill out a Transfer of Ownership Form (105 k, click on link or PDF logo on left). Registration entitles you to participate in the Digidesign Hardware Exchange Program and repair service for your hardware. Repair charges will apply if hardware is beyond 1 year from original date of purchase when new. Please download and print this form and follow the same instructions listed above for new registration. (instructions included on the form)

If you are selling a used system, you should fill out the seller's portion of the Transfer of Ownership Form and include it with the sale.

The Pro Tools license is included with Pro Tools core hardware systems and cannot be sold separately (this includes any upgrades to the Pro Tools software). If you sell a core system, the included Pro Tools license then becomes the property of the new owner, and all future update and upgrade rights are transferred as well.

The seller is responsible for providing all Pro Tools software and Pro Tools authorizations for that software that should be included with a used core system. If the current software and authorizations were not included, the buyer must purchase a Pro Tools software upgrade from the DigiStore or an Authorized Digidesign Dealer. All purchased Pro Tools upgrades are complete installers that do not require previous installation of Pro Tools or registration, either to purchase or install the Pro Tools upgrades.

Registration of Plug-Ins and Optional Software Not Transferable

Digidesign will not transfer product registration for used plug-ins or other optional software from the original owner to another owner. Transfer of iLok authorizations by buyers and sellers can be done at www.iLok.com. Transfer of iLok licenses are between the individual parties. Digidesign will only register software purchased by the original owner, and only when purchased from an Authorized Digidesign Dealer.
